New Tariff Approved for Electricity Trade with Romania’s Neighbours

Published in the Official Gazette No. 453 of 15 May 2025, Ordinance No. 16/2025 introduces a regulated tariff for cross-border electricity exchanges, marking a significant update for the energy sector.

The ordinance sets a regulated tariff of €1.50/MWh (excluding VAT) to be applied by Transelectrica S.A., Romania’s national electricity transmission company. This tariff applies to all scheduled energy exchange transactions involving neighbouring countries, including:
Imports
Exports
Transit operations
The measure standardises pricing and provides clarity for regional energy operators coordinating with Romania’s power grid.

Ordinul nr. 16/2025 privind aprobarea tarifului reglementat pentru schimburile de energie electrică cu țările perimetrice, practicat de Compania Națională de Transport al Energiei Electrice „Transelectrica” – S.A. (Monitorul Oficial nr. 453/15.05.2025)
Actul normativ a aprobat tariful reglementat pentru schimburile de energie electrică cu ţările perimetrice de 1,50 euro/MWh, exclusiv TVA, aplicat de către Compania Naţională de Transport al Energiei Electrice „Transelectrica” - S.A.
Acest tarif se va aplică tuturor tranzacţiilor de import, export şi tranzit de energie electrică, programate cu sistemele electroenergetice ale ţărilor perimetrice.
